An automatic transmission is basically a big hydraulic pump that changes gears by moving fluid through a complex system of channels. These channels are connected with valves and pistons that move with the help of pressurized fluid. A computer and various sensors regulate when pressure is turned on or off in the system and a fluid coupler connects the engine to the transmission, which directs power to the wheels. There are so many parts in an automatic transmission that even mechanics don’t want to repair them. In reality, once you understand how they work, it’s not as intimidating as it looks.
Our Automatic Transmissions training prepares students for certification from the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (A.S.E.). Fast Lane assists students with job placement through partner agencies and qualified students may receive sponsorship for certification.
