Automatic Transmissions

An automatic transmission is basically a big hydraulic pump that changes gears by moving fluid through a complex system of channels that are connected with valves and pistons that move with the help of pressurized fluid. A computer and various sensors regulate when pressure is turned on or off in the system and a fluid coupler connects the engine to the transmission, which directs power to the wheels. There are so many parts in an automatic transmission that even mechanics don't want to repair them. In reality, once you understand how they work, it's not as intimidating as it looks.

This course is designed to go over all aspects of the automatic transmission system in a vehicle, including:

  • Mechanical Systems

  • Hydraulic Systems

  • Electrical Systems

  • Gearsets

  • Valve Body & Components

  • Torque Converters

  • Differentials

  • Clutch Packs
