Gasoline / Hybrids Engine Repair & Performance

The gasoline engine has been around for over 100 years and while there have been no major changes mechanically, the way engines are managed to improve performance, increase efficiency, and reduce emissions have changed dramatically.

Hybrids are cars that have a gasoline or diesel engine while also having an electric motor that power the transmission. Hybrids have been around since 1997, and work by turning off the motor while the car is idling or moving at low speeds. However, once the car starts accelerating, the engine takes over and powers the vehicle.

This course is designed to go over all the mechanical aspects of an engine by completing a teardown and rebuild of an engine followed by identifying the systems of the engine, including:

  • Cooling System

  • Lubrication System

  • Fuel System

  • Intake & Exhaust Systems

  • Ignition System

  • Timing System

  • Emissions Control Systems

  • Computerized Engine Controls

  • Cylinder Head & Valve Train

  • Engine Block
