Four-Wheel Drive System (4x4) Training
(Prerequisite: Automatic Transmission Course)
Fast Lane Automotive is an automotive training center on a mission: to see each and every student – regardless of background or personal finances – learn a trade than can empower them to better their lives and those of their families. Yes, we’re a for-profit enterprise, but we’re not here to pressure students into classes they don’t need. Our entire curriculum is designed to help students become certified by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (A.S.E.) and that includes our Four-Wheel Drive System (4×4) course.
Most cars and trucks on the road transfer power either to the front wheels (Front Wheel Drive), or the rear wheels (Rear Wheel Drive). Some trucks and SUV’s can deliver power to all four wheels. This is not to be confused with vehicles that have All Wheel Drive (AWD). Four-wheel drive systems are meant to be used only when there is no traction on the ground. The main reason these systems wind up damaged is due to the driver using it incorrectly. Additionally, since these systems are used in trucks and SUV’s, drivers also tend to exceed the tow limit, the rated weight limit, or both. This puts an incredible amount of strain on the system and can cause premature failure on the four-wheel drive system, including the transmission.
Our Four-Wheel Drive System (4×4) training prepares students for certification from the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (A.S.E.). Fast Lane will assist students with job placement through partner agencies and qualified students may be eligible for sponsorship for their certification testing.
Fast Lane Automotive Training’s Four-Wheel Drive System (4×4) course is designed to go over all of the aspects of a four-wheel drive system in a real-world vehicle, including:
- Transfer Case
- Lubrication Systems
- Electrical Systems
- Gearsets
- Front & Rear Differentials
- Front & Rear Drive Shafts
